The original story of THE LITTLE MERMAID goes a different way than the popular Disney animation, and this adaptation of that story for two actors was my first experience directing theater for young audiences. We set the play inside of a sunken treasure chest that could be placed anywhere along its two month tour of schools, libraries, churches, and youth service centers in Marin County. Actors Elena Wright and Danny Jones collaborated with me to flexibly stage this softly tragic story about what it means to make sacrifices in order to pursue your dreams. It was also my first fully-equity production.
